I am sure all of us payed for courses like piano, violin, a third language, swimming or whatsoever. In exchange for money, you learnt something new and gain new skills. Same for me, I learnt my lesson after I "spent" $150. I learnt alot of new things. I learned that humans are greedy and nothing is ever enough. I do not deny that I was addicted to gambling at a point of time. But I guess the money is well spent. I am going to quit. It was a $150 well spent, at least it wasn't a thousand over dollars. You want to win more when you are winning, and you want to recoup your losses when you lose. Its a vicious cycle. Trust the old folks when they say the banker always win. If not, companies like bet365, Singapore Pools wouldn't be formed. There is a demand and therefore they move in to tap on it to earn revenue. This demand is the greed to win. It is this reason why they are able to harness so much cash and earnings. Gambling isn't bad exactly. However, it must be kept in mind that it cannot earn you money, it is just pure entertainment. Whatever money you bring out to gamble, prepare to lose it. Lose it and forget about it. Don't try to recoup cause that's when all of you will fall into the trap. I think i am quite lucky to have the discipline to stop myself once and for all, but i will still go down to singapore pools and make a bet or two, in the name of entertainment and trying my luck. it is perhaps one of the most enriching lessons i ever had. =]
