René-Théophile-Hyacinthe Laennec, Frenchmen. He created this device in 1816 to allow people to listen to their hearts. Particularly, it is used by physicians on patients in order to determine the condition of their patients. It is indeed a wonderful invention. It allows us to peer through layers of subcutaneous tissue, muscle groups such as the intercostal muscles, nerves, arteries, veins and the rigid rib cage to take a "look" at the one organ that keeps us alive. this is the one organ that keeps every part of our body replenished with nutrients and oxygen, and thus allow our body to function. If i could, i would like to present on these devices to each of my interviewers. i want them to peer into my heart and tell me what they listen. tell me if i am less deserving that others for a place in medical school. the first physicians became physicians because of two reasons, either because they are intrigued by the wonders of the human body and want to gain more knowledge regarding the human body, or they want to help those around them who are suffering. why then should i distinguish myself from others when all medical student wannabes have this mindset. issit wrong to want to help people because i sincerely and truthfully want to? listen, listen to my heart. in there lies a dream, a hope, that has been beaten but not shattered. listen to what my heart tells u, before u make a judgement on me...
